Geometry Seminar, November 2, 2010: David Gabai

After a week off for PATCH, the Geometry Seminar resumes with David Gabai of Princeton speaking on:

Title: Topology of Ending Lamination Space

Abstract: The Ending lamination space is a naturally defined space associated to a surface of negative Euler characteristic that is important in hyperbolic geometry and geometric group theory. We will discuss recent progress on characterizing the topology of these beautiful and mysterious spaces.
